5 GoogleAdsenseGuide Google Adsense add to your Website

How to add Google AdSense to your Website

As a website owner, you may decide that you wish to add Google AdSense advertising to your website.

What is Google AdSense?

You can think of AdSense as a new business opportunity. Its completely free. Yes, its an opportunity for you to make money from your own website. The advertising programme is made up of 2 key elements:
  • AdSense for Content
  • AdSense for Search

    AdSense for Content

Google AdSense is a quick and easy way for website owners to display Google Ads on their website. When people visit your website and click the Google Ads, you get paid money. Simple!

The advertising served up by Google is related to what your visitors are looking for on your site. In other words, its context sensitive. For example, if your website is about recruitment, then you can be pretty sure that the presentation of Ads by Goooooogle on your site will also be about recruitment.

In fact, its even better than that. Google AdSense is looking at the content of each and every web page on your website. So, this means that the content of the Google Advertising will align with the information on each web page in your site.

Its completely automatic and you dont need to worry about it.

    AdSense for Search

This feature will allow you to add a Google Search Bar to your own website. So, this means that visitors to your website can use the Google Search Bar and search for information contained in your site.

And whats more, when a search is performed, the search engine returns Google AdSense advertising in the search results. Once again, its fully automatic and the advertisements are directly related to the search query.

Now heres the good bit! When people click your Search Ads (these are the sponsored ads), you are paid money. Its a pay per click scheme, so you can make money as people use your search bar.

For example, if you search for hotels on the moon, this means that the Ads by Goooooogle in the search results will also be about hotels on the moon.

Dont worry if you are not using search technology directly within your site. Once again, its all taken care of. For example, it will work perfectly well on a simple HTML site.

Can I use AdSense at Quick on the Net?

Yes indeed, the www.QuickontheNet.com site-builder supports the use of Google AdSense.

Yes, you can use both Content and Search in your site and we also provide you with our own site search feature in our websites. In other words, all of our websites come with a free site search tool anyway.

How do I put Google AdSense on my Website?

Firstly, you need to SIGN-UP to Quick on the Net and SIGN-UP to Google AdSense.

Now, log into the AdSense toolkit and go to Content or Search, according to your preference. For example, if you wish to display some advertising in your site, go to AdSense for Content.

    Select your options from:
  • Ad unit or Link unit
  • Format
  • Colours (Colour palettes - select a default palette or create a unique palette for your own website)
  • Your AdSense Code (this is the code you will copy and paste onto your web page)

Now, log into your toolkit at Quick on the Net and go to:
  • Pages
  • Edit the web page which where you intend to paste in the code
  • Click on <>
  • Paste in the AdSense Code
  • Save the page
  • Simple!

Now Relax and Make Some Money!

    A Caveat of ADD

I am using this nice little program called NetLimiter.  Currently it is v3 beta 9 and expires tomorrow.

I decided to go update it.  I opened Firefox and saw there are also updates for my current browser plugins.

I auto updated the plugins.  On the Featured Plugins that pops up after the Firefox restart I see a plugin called Yoono that allows me to connect to IM sessions in my browser.

I installed Yoono and restarted Firefox again.

I now was able setup my connections for Yahoo IM, AOL IM, MSN IM, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace (and had a little trouble with Linked-In).

After all this is done I viewed my recent Tweet list and followed a few links; also did a search for anything new on the Nexus.

There are also custom notifications and global updates for each connection.  Lots of customizable options for this program!

I went back to Firefox and logged into my profile page to add Yoono as a favorite extension (and see if there is anything else I need to add to Firefox).

There are a lot of updates in Facebook, Twitter and MySpace I need to review.

Aw crap- I still need to update NetLimiter

8 Firefox Add ons to help manage the web

    Adblock Plus

This one is a must! block annoying ads, avoid tracking cookies, and save your self some bandwidth (helps speed things up for everyone by not downloading ad images). This ad blocker also uses an anti-virus like subscription list which updates to avoid new ad servers all together. if it fails to block an ad. you can block it yourself; By frame, single image, or even the server (and supports wildcards like *).

    NoScript

Noscript Allows you to disable javascript and select which sites can run javascript on your browser. This help protect against IFRAMES and other XSS attacks..

    leetkey

Leetkey allows you to convert strings to other encoding and vice versa. binary, Hex, Base64, l33t, Rot13, Reverse, and even morse code. It also has a encryption module on it to encrypt and decrypt strings. Below are a few examples of these things encoded with leetkey.

Normal String: This is a test string

Reverse String: gnirts tset a si sihT

    leet: 7h15 15 4 7357 57r1n6

    Binary: 01010100 01101000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01100001 00100000 01110100 01100101 01110011 01110100 00100000 01110011 01110100 01110010 01101001 01101110 01100111

    Hex: 54 68 69 73 20 69 73 20 61 20 74 65 73 74 20 73 74 72 69 6e 67

Rot13: Guvf vf n grfg fgevat

    URL Encoding: This+is+a+test+string

    Morse Code: - .... .. ... .. ... .- - . ... - ... - .-. .. -. --.

DES encrypted with password test: olZule+WVI7q4HtjQ90td/TiLFgBALW0GJmr0oMB958=

    ShowIP

This shows you the IP address of server you are connected to in your status bar and always you to run whois, netcraft, Whoishostingthis.com, and ip2country. Good for security. If your at a wifi Hotspot and it shows your web-mail log-in page IP address is in the same LAN subnet, you are probably the victim of DNS Poisoning or a man-in-the-middle attack my friend. It might be worth your time to investigate the IP or move to a less hostile network.

    Fireshot

This tool allows you to capture an entire web page from the browser top to bottom or just a section or what is visible or the entire window and has a built in editor for cropping.

    FireBug and Firecookie

These two work together. Firebug can help you, in real time, debug a web page, highlights the code section on the page. also allows you to edit the code and then update it in real time (great for modifying web forms ;-] ). Firecookie allows you to look at your site cookie in real-time and edit and delete values in real time. All this is nicely done at the bottom of the browser! A MUST FOR WEB DEVELOPERS AND HACKERS ALIKE!

    Advance Dork

This tool allows you to right click and quickly craft advanced google searches based on the information on the web page using google operators like intitle: site: etc. Good tool for digging into a site using google ;-) if your unfamiliar with all this I suggest you read a book called "Google Hacking for penetration testers"

a list of the best BlackBerry add on applications for productivity

My excuses for using a BlackBerry are (a) Verizon delivers great voice quality, as does the BlackBerry Tour (b) physical keyboard and (3) it doesnt seduce me with an almost infinite variety of wonderful time sucking applications.

Here are what Ive found to be the core productivity applications. With the addition to the list of the wonderful Timr app for timetracking, I dont know why youd want anything more (except true e-mail sync without a BlackBerry Enterprise Server ... grrr!). The following are in descending order of utility (to me). The first two get assigned BlackBerry function keys for easy access.

    1. GMail. Specialized application. Not push mail but the next best thing. Great to have my entire e-mail database at my mobile fingertips.
    2. Timr. My new favorite. Wonderful new application for time tracking with OTA sync to a Web interface.
    3. Kindle. A beautifully executed BlackBerry application. You really can read an entire, full length book on a BlackBerry.
    4. TweetGenius. Makes Twitter even easier to use than on a full sized browser. THAT is an amazing feat of design brilliance.
    5. Pandora. Has worked wonderfully for me except when it once started blasting the Yeah Yeah Yeahs our of the speaker during a funeral service (really). Still havent figured out what happened.
    6. Google Sync. In the background, this syncs my Google Calendar to my BlackBerry calendar. Invaluable. Without this or something like this Id have to ditch my BlackBerry. I wonder if RIM has any idea of the utility that Google delivers to their platform?
    7. Google Maps. A lifesaver.
    8. Bing Search. Ive found it moderately more useful for mobile than Google.
    9. Google Search.
    10. PageOnce. This is a great tool for consolidating all sorts of information like airplane itineraries from multiple carriers and credit card transactions and balances. Its strange that their website isnt as nice as their BlackBerry application.
    11. Evernote. It works ok for notes but needs a revision. Great for capturing photos of receipts and syncing them up to the cloud and then to my desktop.
    12. Yammer. Super for posting Yammer updates to your company.
    13. BeejiveIM. Excellent IM application that includes everything but Skype.
    14. IM+ for Skype. Waiting for the new Verizon-Skype deal to hit my BlackBerry. This program does work fine but its pricey.
    15. Salesforce. Surprisingly how much data they make accessible through this application. Fast and nice. And with the Spring 2010 release, its available on all platforms as a data access (but not comprehensive data editing) tool.Publish Post
    16. Facebook. Adequate. Not great.
    17. Google Voice. Useful occasionally for looking up voice mails poorly converted to text.

    Search
