A Blast From the Past Valve Tube Electro optic LA2A

Drip Electronics OPTO 6 version of the 1968 LA2A
When a friend of mine came and asked if I would help him build out an audio compressor that is based on tube amplification and some custom electro-optical cells I, of course, agreed!

The full details of the device are online at Drip Electronics: OPTO 6 (LA2A). They build a PCB to approximate the old point to point wiring typically found under tube systems as well as build the custom electro-optical cells.

Now I am not a tube guy nor an audio guy but any electronics that glows when it is working is good electronics.

Yours truly, (Matthew Swabey) testing the system with safety
glasses in case one of the tubes or big caps "pops"
I really enjoyed the different construction style but testing was a real problem - the system is so non-linear, clips all the time and distorts it is almost impossible to know if I built it right. The current owner had to take it home and test with a microphone and speakers before it could be signed off.

A Fluke of Security Issues from Updating Software on Windows Based X Ray Testers

Imagine youd like to test X-ray machines in a hospital, dental office, etc. for safety and calibration.  X-ray testers come into play.  So how does one maintain the software used with X-ray testers?  How do you know that youve downloaded the legitimate software?

The TNT 12000 X-Ray Test Device from Fluke Biomedical distributes its software updates online.  Worried about the security of your hospital network while downloading software?  Concerned that installing software might violate your hospitals corporate security policies and get you in hot water with your CIO or CISO if you accidentally download malware?  No problem.  Trust the Internet.  Just download the .EXE file or the ZIP file using any shared Internet connection from an HTTP site.  No need for connection-oriented SSL security or pesky end-to-end digital signatures of integrity-protected content.  Another time saver for increased productivity.

8 GoogleAdsenseGuide How to increase income from Google Adsense

Did you know that the standard Google AdSense advert is not the best and most effective one?
If youve been using Google AdSense already, youll know that there are different advert formats that you can try on your website.
The most important thing that you can do to improve your Google AdSense income is to increase the click-through rate or CTR For example,
*1000 pages visits, with a 1% CTR, is 10 clicks
*1000 page visits, with a 10% CTR, is 100 clicks
Which would you rather have? Google AdSense does not allow detailed discussions of actual CTRs but implementing the following hints and tips improved my AdSense income, literally overnight. If you are using the Leaderboard, Banner or Skyscraper adverts, then you are not using the most effective advert, in terms of CTR. By using the 336 x 280 Large Rectangle and 250 x 250 Square, you will instantly improve your CTR. Changing the colours of the text and background of your Google AdSense advert can also improve CTR.
You can do this by visiting colour palettes on the "AdSense for Content" page. The standard colour for the Linked Title is a royal blue and the advertiser-url is a green. By changing the Linked Title to a dark blue and the Advertiser URL to a light grey, you will also improve your CTR and hence your income. If your page background is coloured, then changing the background colour of your advert to match, making the advert blend in on the page, once again improves your CTR. Do experiment with what works for you site - for some sites, the right color could be yellow, purple or pink - find out what works for you and use it! For further hints and tips on improving your Google AdSense income, visit Google AdSense Secret

6 Ways to Protect Your Blog from being Hacked

Protect Blog being Hacked

1. Have Strong Passwords, and Change them Regularly

The first step you should take to protect your blog from being hacked is to have a password that is very strong. Youll be surprised at how simple the password some people use is, and they end up complaining when theyre hacked.

Make sure your password doesnt contain your name, address, or even date of birth. Use something nobody can ever associate with you, and dont ever talk about your password to anybody. Also make sure you change your password regularly; like every 3-6 months, and you will be able to protect yourself from being trailed by a hacker.

2. Have More than One Admin Account

It could be 3 or more, and it could be only two. It is very important not to have just one admin account. The reason for this is that the first thing an hacker will do once they hack your blog is to change your details, and you can protect yourself by taking control through your other admin account.

Another thing you should realize is that this technique is just as dangerous as it is helpful, so make sure you prepare yourself for this; the more admin accounts you have on your blog, the more routes an hacker can take to get to you. To protect yourself from this, make sure the username and passwords for all your admin accounts are so unique and different, so that it will be difficult for any hacker to take control upon getting to your blog.

3. Install Plugin that Monitors Your Files and Notify You of Changes Immediately

You can also tell your hosting to help you configure your server to notify you in case there is any change in any of your files at any time, or you can look for a plugin that makes this easy.

A lot of little changes happen to our blog every day, but the reality is that some of them shouldnt be. It is important for you to make sure you dont come to know about any of these changes lately, so make sure you regularly monitor your sever and wordpress installation for any changes.

4. Scan Every Theme and Plugin You Want to Install

This is especially important if you download your themes and plugins from other websites online, or if youre using cracked plugins and themes. You never know when a sleazy programmer will put a little code in your theme or plugin, or when that cracked software youre downloading will be virus infected.
Dont just wait to get hacked before you realize this, so make sure you scan every theme and plugin you want to install on a regular basis; scan them with your own antivirus before you install them.

5. Back up Your Blog Regularly

Dont ever miss a day, because you never know when your blog will be hacked. One thing I have noticed in the hacking world is that, no matter how secure, there is nothing that cannot be hacked. Of course, you can invest time and effort into making your blog very secure, and you can even hire an expert to take care of this aspect. But the reality is,f if a group of hackers dedicate their efforts to bring down your blog, it will only last a few hours at best.

The best thing to do in a situation like this is to back up your blog regularly. Have at least 2 plugins/software that backs up your entire blog, and make sure you check regularly to ensure your files are properly backed up.

6. Use Different Passwords for Every Aspect of Your Website

Protect Blog being Hacked

For every webmaster you can have up to 3 different username and passwords for your hosting, and these 3 passwords can make it easy for you to recover your website in the case that youre hacked.

*. The first password is for your hosting account; where you can see tickets, pay for hosting, and change your Cpanel details.

*. The second password is for your Cpanel; where you can access various parts of your website and make changes directly to your blog.

*. The third password is for your wordpress installation in itself; where you can add new posts, reply to comments, create new accounts, and update your blog directly.

The deadliest mistake any blogger can make is to make all 3 passwords the same, and you can protect yourself to an extent by making these passwords different.

You should also make sure all 3 usernames are different, and try getting your web host to help you change your details from the default one to something more secure..

A little scoop from Anna Torv

"Stiamo filmando il quinto episodio in questo momento, e siamo immersi nel mondo che abbiamo sfiorato alla fine della seconda stagione" ha detto Anna Torv. " Quello per cui sono veramente emozionata vedere i miei due personaggi interagire con gli altri. Un paio di settimane fa abbiamo finito di farlo ed stato molto tecnico, ma anche una specie di liberazione. Spero ne faremo di pi e penso che ne faremo. Come se fosse stata impostato in questo modo."

"Were shooting episode five at the moment, so were really kind of into the world that we touched on at the end of the second season," Anna Torv tells us. "What I was super excited about is seeing my two characters interacting with each other. A couple of weeks ago we sort of finally did that and it was very technical, but also really kind of liberating. I hope we get to do more of that, which I think we will get to. Its sort of been set up that way."

A glimpse of the future what we can expect from Windows 10 PCs

1 ) Introduction & Performance Boost :

Windows 10 PCs are going to run the usual gamut from the familiar tablets, notebooks, 2-in-1s, desktop PCs and mini PCs you can mount behind a screen to the unusual, like HoloLens and Internet of Things devices.
We got an advance glimpse of the hardware thats going to be built thanks to the agenda for WinHEC, the Windows Hardware Engineering Community. And it looks like lots of the new technologies we saw previewed at CES this year will make it into devices.
Some of the most interesting new features supported pertain to connectivity plugging in devices, docking a tablet when you need more ports and a bigger screen, or sending content to a big screen.
Microsoft is promising "Miracast improvements in Windows 10" as part of the move to WDDM 2.0. Youve needed WDDM 1.3 graphics drivers for Miracast in Windows 8.1, along with a Wi-Fi card that can set up the Wi-Fi Direct network between your PC and the screen youre sending to, plus a GPU that has Hybrid Graphics both a low-power integrated graphics processor and a dedicated GPU that can drive the second screen.
Miracast is useful when you want to project your whole PC screen to another display without plugging in a cable, whether thats to watch a movie, or give a presentation or product demonstration, but its been tricky to set up. The improvements may simplify that weve been able to get Miracast adapters like the Roku 3 working on devices running the Windows 10 preview when we couldnt stream with the same hardware and Windows 8.1.
But Microsoft will also be talking about what sounds like a more generic version of Wi-Fi video streaming for Windows 10 what it calls "Wi-Fi casting and hang detection with recovery".
Unlike AirPlay and Chromecast, Miracast doesnt use your main Wi-Fi network, it creates a separate Wi-Fi Direct network between the PC and the Miracast screen. Perhaps Wi-Fi casting will add an option to stream over a standard Wi-Fi network (today you can do that with Play To, but only from specific applications and only with specific video formats, not for everything on your screen).

Get connected

Windows 10 gets support for the new reversible, either-way-up USB type-C portsand connectors that weve been expecting, so we should see those showing up on new phones, tablets and notebooks.
We saw motherboards with both USB 3.0 and type-C, and now that phones will run Windows 10, youll be able to plug USB peripherals in to them as well as plugging your phone into your PC.
Thats why Windows 10 will add support for USB Dual Role, where the same device can be either a host that other USB devices connect to, or a USB device that connects to another host or it can be both at the same time. That also lets you plug a screen into your PC over USB.
USB type-C ports also carry more power than USB 2.0 and 3.0 Windows 10 will support the full 100W power that USB type-C can handle, so youll be able to charge your notebook over USB. Thats ideal for docking stations; instead of a custom docking connector, a tablet or notebook can just plug in with USB and youll get power and display connections.
That works because Windows 10 supports another new USB feature, Alternate Modes. Instead of using the usual USB protocol to transfer information over a USB connection, devices will be able to use different protocols like DisplayPort, Thunderbolt or MHL. So with the right cable, a tablet that only has a USB port could drive a monitor that needs a DisplayPort connection. That makes it much easier to design a nice, lightweight tablet that you can use like a full PC when you get to the office.
Microsoft is suggesting to OEMs that Miracast and USB type-C will be great for docking tablets and notebooks, and Windows 10 will also support the new 60GHz WiGig technology. Thats a faster wireless connection than Wi-Fi weve seen speeds between 7 and 12Gbps but it goes over a much shorter distance. You could use it to send video from your phone or PC to a TV with a WiGig adapter in the HDMI port.
But where it gets really interesting is when you replace the USB or custom port you use to plug a keyboard into a tablet with a WiGig connection. Now you dont need a port that lets dust and water in, or special holes and guides to get the keyboard in exactly the right place to connect to the port. You can just put the keyboard next to the tablet and it will start working without all the fiddly bits of plugging it in.
Doing away with a port will make the dock and the device slightly cheaper and more reliable (often, its the port that breaks rather than anything else in a dock). Supporting all these options should mean we see Windows 10 PCs with interesting connection and docking options.

Performance boosts

It appears that Microsoft is also emphasising the importance of improving performance and battery life, with new tools like a Battery Estimation Engine that shows which apps, services and hardware on the PC are using power, and a new Battery Saver mode. It sounds like PC makers will have to make some changes to their drivers to make those work well.
Windows 8 introduced Connected Standby mode, which lets PCs using low-power System on Chip CPUs like ARM, Atom and the latest Haswell Core processors (including Surface Pro 3) drop into a low power mode where the CPU and memory arent using power, but Wi-Fi is still connected so email can arrive and a Skype call can wake the device up if youve allowed that.
Windows 10 also adds a new Modern Standby mode. We dont have any more details about this perhaps it will work with a wider range of hardware than Connected Standby, or allow Bluetooth Low Energy devices to work with a PC in Modern Standby so you could wake it from an external keyboard or find it when its turned off? Or it might be a version of Connected Standby for the way phones work.

2) Sensors and Security :

Now that Windows Phone wont be a separate OS any more, there are more phone-like features going into Windows 10. Windows 8.1 already supports Bluetooth LE for things like low power keyboards and even wearable devices like the Fitbit. Thats still in Windows 10, but theres also an SMS router and "Host card emulation for NFC payments". Thats the same technology that Google just bought Softcard for, letting you tap with your phone or your tablet to make a payment.
That session also covers "proximity features" Microsoft has often talked about using NFC in a tablet or PC keyboard to make it easier to pair peripherals or to let you send content youre viewing on one device to another, like switching video from your phone to your TV when you get home.
Phones are also one of the reasons Windows 10 will support new sensors in addition to the usual accelerometers, ambient light sensors, compasses, gyroscopes and so on. These new sensors are already used in phones and the OEMs need them.
At least one Windows Phone device (the Lumia 1020) has a barometer in although Windows Phone 8 doesnt let developers use it and several Samsung and Nexus handsets also have barometers in, and theyre common in GPS devices. Theyre not for weather purposes, though knowing the atmospheric pressure is a good way of checking the altitude and that speeds up getting your GPS location. That saves power because you can turn off the high power GPS radio more quickly, and it will work in Windows 10.
Similarly, supporting long range proximity sensors is key for phones its how the phone knows to turn off the screen when youre holding it up to your ear, so the side of your face doesnt activate the touchscreen and hang up your call. You could also use them to turn on an NFC sensor only when there was something near it to read, which might also save power.
Windows 10 also supports custom and composite sensors. In the past PC makers could build in any sensor if they wanted to write the driver for it themselves, but making that easier is important for Internet of Things devices that need a much wider range of sensors.

Low hardware requirements

Microsoft is also keen to attract OEMs whove previously made devices using Android or Chrome OS and other operating systems, promising them that "you can reuse many of your existing designs from other platforms on Windows". Supporting more sensors will help OEMs build Windows devices more quickly, and it suggests that the hardware requirements for Windows 10 PCs will be pretty low.
That fits with what OEMs have asked Microsoft for to let them use the same systems they might otherwise put Android on, and it means the flood of cheap Windows tablets should continue. But that does also mean they might miss out on some Windows 10 security features.

We already know security is a major area for Windows 10, and it makes sense that Microsoft will be pushing OEMs to put TPMs in Windows 10 PCs because new features like FIDO-compliant next-generation credentials and enterprise lockdown wont work without them.
Back in 2013, Microsoft said that by January 2015 all PCs would have to have a Trusted Platform Module to get a Windows logo. But that requirement went away last year, probably as part of the Bing for Windows licence deal OEMs making cheap Windows tablets dont want to spend the few extra dollars to add a TPM, so some 8-inch Windows tablets have a TPM, but others dont.
The Windows Hardware Certification documents currently say "Systems that support Connected Standby must also have a TPM". Microsoft cant tell PC makers they can reuse the same hardware they bought to make Intel-based Android tablets (which dont use the TPM) and then make them have a TPM in every PC. But it can push the idea by pointing out that you need them for password replacements especially on tablets people will take to work, for mobile payments using that NFC support, and for streaming copy-protected ultra-high definition content.
After all, what Microsoft wants and will be pushing at WinHEC is not just lots of PCs at low prices, but a wide range of PCs from cheap tablets to high-end systems with features you cant get in Macs or Chromebooks.

5 Best Hacks From The Black Hat 2016

Short Bytes: At the Black Hat 2016 hacker conference in Las Vegas, the world saw a variety of cutting-edge cyber security applications. Some of these hacks stood out from the others and gained widespread praises. Heres a quick recap of the 5 best Black Hat 2016 hacks, including the likes of famous Jeep Cherokee hackers and a hacking laptop that actually flies.
The annual Black Hat USA conference is known to welcome thousands of cyber security experts, hackers, and technology enthusiasts. Every year we get to see and learn about new cyber-exploits and hacking threats.
At this years conference, more than 15,000 hackers and security professional gathered in Las Vegas. The Mandalay Bay hotel witnessed some scary and impressive sights. So, here are some of the best hacks that stood out from the rest:

Car hackers were back!

Do you remember the hacker duo of Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek who hacked into a Jeep Cherokee by exploiting a zero-day in the system?
This year, they were back at Black Hat with scarier hacking tricks, showing their ability to affect the safety of critical systems. They controlled a vehicle remotely, slamming the brakes suddenly and speeding ahead without any warning.

Flying laptop hacker!
At Black Hat 2016, we saw Danger Drone, a new laptop thats designed to fly and launch cyberattacks. This lets a security expert to remain far from the target and bypass the challenging aspects to test the defenses of a system.
Designed by Bishop Fox, this $500 custom-developed Danger Drone also lets you avoid the risk of getting caught.

Your light bulbs are hackable!

Just when you thought that your innocent light bulbs would be the last thing a hacker will target, Black Hat 2016 witnessed the details on Internet of Things security risks.
CTO of NewAE Technology, Colin OFlynn, and Eyal Ronen, an Israeli student, shared a presentation and a video of hacking office building lights. Later, they even hacked the light at the conference.

Social media addicts, take care!

Very often what you see on social media might not be what it seems. Using deceptive phishing links, hackers easily target social media users to steal their personal information and money.
The same concept was demonstrated by ZeroFOX data scientists Philip Tully and John Seymour. They build a bot that targetted social media users, collected information regarding their interests and penetrated the feed with a catered message. This Twitter bot was a success with a click rate as high as 60%.

Fake airport boarding pass making app!
What happens when an automated boarding pass reader rejects your gold status? Well, if you are Przemek Jaroszewski, youll develop an app to hack your way into airport lounges.
Jaroszewski, Polands computer emergency response team head, says that it just takes 10 seconds to create a boarding pass that could be used to access the airport lounges. For the security purposes, he has no plans to make this app public.

Dear friends,

I want to share with you today some more pictures I did this Autumn @ Limanowa. I must admit I love that place very much and it helps me recharge my batteries really well even though I have my fiancees sister and brothers children - 7 of them, ages from 1 till (I think...) 8... They get a huge portion of my energy and time but I love children and they love me unconditionally so that brings even more positive vibes :)

I love going there as it is quiet and you have fresh air and you are surrounded by forests... there is no need to put an alarm clock as either the rooster will wake you up around 6 or 7 oclock or the children will, by jumping on the bed until you wake up :) The whole downside of getting there is the trip... both ways! I always get car-sick from all the turns... and I must admit they are a bunch of them!!! I always need pills to settle my stomach before or else the whole day I am good for nothing... Yes! I know... Yet I have no airplane sickness whatsoever, even in the nastiest turbulences...
 1. The Bee Trapped In The Flower - Serves her right :p
 2. Green Little Bug On Yellow Little Pumpkin :)
 3. The Guardian Of The House
4. Happy BumbleBee - I am really proud of this photo as well ;)))

I hope you are having a very relaxing Friday my friends :) Have an awesome weekend ahead!

Loads of hugs and kisses,
From The LadyBug
