7 Reasons Im scared of Resident Evil 7 but will buy it anyway!

It is almost here everyone! Resident Evil 7 will be releasing later this month, and I personally cant wait... Or can I? Honestly this one actually scares me, and Im a little unsure if Ill actually be able to finish it. That being said, Im getting it anyway! Call me a wimp or whatever, but horror has never been my forte, and this is the first Resident Evil that I ever felt was a true horror game. Even so, as a fan of the series, I cant help but excited for this one, and today I am going to tell you why! Here are my top seven reasons I am scared of Resident Evil 7, but will buy it anyway because it excites me!

1. Return to the "Roots" -

Lately Resident Evil has been a series about action. Although 4 was still closer to its original horror survival style, Resident Evil 5 buffed up the main character Chris, had him go on an action packed shooting adventure, and gave him the ability to punch giant rocks with his fists. The game expanded on the systems created for RE4, added in a second playable character, and also introduced co-op to the main story. While not all may like the changes made in 5, it was still fun for what it was, and Resident Evil 6 turned up that action even further. It too was a really fun co-op experience (if you gave it a chance), and its story was very cinematic in nature. On top of that, theres also the more "arcady" modes of Resident Evil such as The Mercenaries, and Raid Mode. While Mercenaries is a game about killing enemies within a set time limit to gain the highest score, Raid mode is more of a shooter RPG mix about killing enemies, getting better weapons in loot drops, and unlocking new abilities. Both modes are pure action, and are great for co-op as well! But this isnt really what Resident Evil started as, and RE7 aims to fix that.

Rather than being an action game, Resident Evil 7 is locking us in an old creepy house filled with monsters, and asking us to survive. No longer can you run through the world guns blazing, but instead you have to progress with the fear of the unknown, and do whatever it takes to actually survive. Although games like Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 brought some of these elements back to the series, RE7 is the first time they went full horror survival in quite some time, and this time it is actually true horror.

2. The Family -

"The Family" (which most likely isnt the same "family" mentioned in RE6) is a group of disturbing hillbillies that live in this old house youre locked in, and they are freakin crazy (to put it lightly)! Theres multiple members to this family, and each one is terrifying in their own way. The thing is though... These people arent your average deranged country hicks, but rather they are deranged country hicks that cannot die! From what weve seen so far, they are immortal (most likely due to the new virus going around), and they will stop at nothing to get you. Decide to set one on fire to get away? Yeah, good luck with that. Instead of burning to a crisp, theyll just keep coming at you as their flesh falls from their body and hits the ground... And THEN kill you. These people are not to be messed with, and often itll be better to run than to stand and fight. Of course that is easier said than done, as they can apparently crash through walls, and jump out from behind almost any corner to scare the heck out of you! Youll never know where they are, and they really will stop at nothing to get you. Theyre also completely crazy... Did I mention that? Seeing the "dad" saw through his sons arm with a knife just because he feels like it isnt something normal people do. Although, Im sure you knew that... I hope...

3. The Monsters -

Wouldnt be Resident Evil without monsters would it? Besides having to put up with the family, this house is loaded with who knows what! From the demo and trailers we have so far only seen one type of monster, but that doesnt mean there arent more out there to surprise us. As for the one type we have seen? They are no push overs. These things are bullet sponges, that will lunge at you, and kill you fast. The demo had you trying to outrun the thing, while using body bags to knock it over, but a few hits from it and you would be dead instead. The good news is, although it may not die normally, you can dismember it to prevent it from swinging its arms at you, or moving, so its not like they are completely invincible. Even so, these things are pure horror that could pop up at any moment, and if you run into one it may be best just to turn around and run away (and hopefully not into a member of the family instead).

4. Video Tapes -

Hidden throughout the house are old VHS tapes that can be played on any VCR you come across. While the main game has you play the role of a man searching for his wife, these VHS tapes take you to another moment in time, and put you in the shoes of someone else. Its pretty safe to assume that most of the other characters you play as wont get a happy ending, but their viewpoint will provide insight to what is actually going on. These sections of the game seem to be pure horror, and have no escape outside of finishing the tape. In some of the few weve seen so far, characters had to hide from members of the family as they hunted their pray (you), while in others they met their gruesome end instead. What we will all be seeing and doing in these tapes is mostly a secret for the time being, but they might be one of the freakiest parts of the game.

5. Using Real Meat -

Did you know Resident Evil 7 uses REAL meat? Yep, its true. This is a fact I might have been better off not knowing, but it does add to the realism of the game. Apparently RE7 uses a lot of 3D scans for actors faces and what not, but it was announced they also went a step further. Rather than just creating all of the monsters from scratch, the dev team paid a visit to a meat processing plant, and actually used REAL meat. Yes, thats right. They took real, dead, ground up animals, slapped the bloody mess onto models, and created our new enemies. So, when you think of the monsters I mentioned in number 3, also think of how "real" they actually are. (Needless to say, the real meat was used for more than just the monsters, so theres something else to not look forward to!)

6. First Person -

Resident Evil 7 is the first mainline RE game to use a first person point of view, and that alone really helps build up the fear. When playing games in third person, you can almost always see what is around your character, and it often gives you some kind of sense of security; however, when you limit that view to what is directly in front of you, then you never know what is lurking behind. Mixed with the shaky camera, darkened vision, and other graphical effects -- this view point really helps build the tension, making the sense of dread much worse. Sure third person games can be scary too, but first person opens a whole new world of jump scares, and more.

7. Virtual Reality -

As many may know, RE7 will be playable fully from start to finish in VR... And it is a nightmare! It may be hard for anyone who hasnt experienced VR to understand this, but VR really does mess with your brain. Although you know what youre seeing is fake, your brain relies on your senses of sight and sound to tell it what is real or not, and because of this it can be tricked. Playing a game like Resident Evil 7 in VR can easily put you into your "panic" mode, and make everything seem so much worse than it actually is. While you may be able to run through the entire game on a TV without getting scared even once, putting on a headset might cause you to stand in the first room unable to take your first virtual step forward. Its a truly strange experience, and even if you know what is to come, your brain cant help but tell you to "GET THE HECK OUT!" Resident Evil 7 looks to be freaky enough, but Resident Evil 7 in VR will be the ultimate test. I seriously dont think I can handle it, but Im still going to try.

Well there you have it! My top seven reasons why RE7 scares me, yet I still want to play it! Really, although each of these things freak me out, Im also excited to experience all of them for some strange reason. Again, Im not sure how far Ill actually get into this thing, but its worth a shot! This games release date cant get here soon enough...

Digital transformation is rewriting the rules of IT, and CIOs need to revamp their approaches if they want their companies to survive and thrive. Here are five predictions for what 2016 will bring under the new IT.

Amit Pandey, CEO of cloud application delivery specialist Avi Networks, says 2016 will be the year of the "new IT." The confluence of cloud environments and applications, along with technologies like software-defined networking, are going to rewrite the rules for IT in 2016, he says.

The transformation has been underway for some time, but Pandey says that in 2016, CIOs and other tech leaders will have to revamp the way they approach IT if they want their companies to keep pace and remain competitive. Theyll need to purge legacy systems that hamper their agility and embrace digital transformation in the form of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and other "third-platform technologies" (as research firm IDC calls them).

Here are Pandeys five "new IT" predictions for 2016.

1. Application owners will own IT

In 2016, DevOps and IT will become synonymous, Pandey says. CIOs will have to adopt an app-centric mindset or risk losing influence. That means application owners will be in the drivers seat when it comes to choosing the tools, techniques and skills theyll need. IT will have to get behind providing application owners with self-service capabilities.

"LOBs are now key influencers of IT strategy and demand a seamless user experience for their teams and customers," Pandey says. "Throw-over-the-wall provisioning of application services on traditional data center infrastructure will give way to application services (like security, load balancing and analytics) and closer to app development time. Sizeable IT investment and CIO mindshare will be applied to developer-friendly, software-driven choices and consumption base (as opposed to large capital equipment) platforms and services."

2. The data center will assume characteristics of the public cloud

The enterprise will achieve "public cloud-like" flexibility, agility and scale in the data center, Pandey says, while retaining a hybrid mix of data centers and public cloud.

"Low-cost computing infrastructure, seamless scaling of applications and easy integration into development practices have largely been confined to public cloud services like Amazon AWS," Pandey says. "A nexus of forces, including the maturing of OpenStack implementations, container tools/implementations (such as Mesosphere, Docker and CoreOS) and software-defined networking will lead to enterprises achieving cloud-like capabilities in-house."

3. Web-scale IT architectures will become available to most enterprises

The enterprise will no longer be confined to specialized hardware for data center services in 2016, Pandey predicts. The performance of new commodity x86 servers and the proliferation of elastic software-driven technologies will allow enterprises of all sizes to achieve a Web-scale IT architectural approach without the need for expensive, specialized hardware appliances.

"Enterprises will seek (and find) hardware agnostic approaches to architect their data centers," he says. "Historically, such an approach has been confined to very large cloud companies like Google, Amazon or Facebook. But with the performance characteristics now available in commodity x86 servers, the rise of the DevOps practices in enterprises and software-based application services, the architectural approach of the cloud giants will be available to most enterprises."

4. CIOs will face increased pressure to shift spending to operating expenses

Pandey says that IT budgets will tighten, leading to a slowdown in investment in traditional technologies. This, in turn, will lead CIOs to shift even more of their spend to a consumption-based model.

"The days of overspending on traditional tools and equipment that have proven only partially effective will end," he says. "As an example, Netflix has abandoned the use of traditional anti-virus tools. For data center tools, CIOs will be compelled by lines of business to shift IT spending choices from capital budgets to operating budgets. The need for uniformity of application architectures in multi-cloud environments will influence IT purchasing decisions (since traditional hardware-based technologies are not portable). IT leaders will be forced to address the problem of underutilization of capital equipment that apply only in one environment, especially in businesses that utilize cloud computing."

5. Cyberattacks and data breaches in the cloud go from perception to reality

While enterprises have been suspicious about the security of their data in cloud environments from the beginning, there hasnt been much in the way of actual cloud data breaches. But thats going to change in 2016, Pandey says.

"The international working group on cloud resiliency monitors downtimes and security risks in the cloud," Pandey says. "So far, no major security breaches or significant availability challenges have affected the cloud. Yet security challenges are often cited as a reason that enterprises are hesitant to move their computing to the cloud. So far, these security concerns have primarily been driven by perception with data center security breaches far exceeding any such events in the cloud. However, as more and more businesses adopt the cloud and a greater share of confidential data and apps are put in the cloud by users, security challenges (DDoS or other cyberattacks), data loss and potential outages can increase."

Running a Bitcoin full node isn�t just for mining pools and companies. Today, we�re going to outline 6 reasons why the average user should also consider running their own Bitcoin full node.

To Node or Not to Node?

With current events pointing towards a possible change in the Bitcoin consensus rules, it is important to remind users that, now more than ever, there are multiple advantages to running a Bitcoin full node.

It is advisable that users run the popular Bitcoin Core client, as there may be certain risks to running less popular clients like Bitcoin Unlimited. Only two days ago, a bug was found and exploited on the Bitcoin Unlimited client, which led a large portion of BU nodes to go offline. The problem was fixed and the BU node count has since recovered.

Yet another bug was also found in the BU client a few weeks ago, which caused the Bitcoin.com pool to mine an invalid block bigger than 1 MB. In light of these recent events, running a Bitcoin Core node may be the safest choice available.

Today, there are 6734 nodes online, 83% of which are Bitcoin Core nodes, whose numbers have been climbing after the BU bug was discovered.

Overall, more Bitcoin nodes translate into a faster, more stable, and more decentralized network. To that end, we�ve compiled a list of 6 reasons to run a Bitcoin Full Node.

1) Helps the Network

Running your own full node is the only way to have full control and to ensure that all the rules of Bitcoin are being followed. Nodes do this by rejecting blocks and transactions that don�t follow the consensus rules and by rejecting connections from peers that send them (or too many of them).

In this sense, nodes are more important than hash power as they are the ones that verify that the blockchain is following the rules. Even with the longest Proof-of-Work chain, nodes will still determine if said chain follows the rules and whether or not it is accepted or ignored.

According to Bitcoin Wiki:

[�] full nodes enforce the consensus rules no matter what. However, lightweight nodes do not do this. Lightweight nodes do whatever the majority of mining power says. Therefore, if most of the miners got together to increase their block reward, for example, lightweight nodes would blindly go along with it.

2) Keeps you safe

Running any kind of Bitcoin wallet that does not require you to run a full node means that you have to place a certain degree of trust in the service provider, something that shouldn�t be necessary with Bitcoin.

A web-based wallet requires you to trust the central node through which your transactions are broadcasted and even lightweight clients like Electrum require that you trust their servers. Even an SPV client requires trust in a third party since you are only downloading the blockchain headers and not verifying if the blockchain you follow respects the rules of the network or if it�s the longest blockchain.

3)  Allows you to choose

In the possible event of a hard fork where both blockchains remain active with economic activity on each side like the one in Ethereum/Ethereum Classic, running a full node is the only way you can validate the rules of the new or old blockchain, according to your preference. If you don�t run a full node, your opinion will not be considered and you will simply follow the blockchain that is given to you.

Running a full node of the client you support is also an indirect way of voting, which shows miners what rule set the users overwhelmingly support.

4) Gives you a higher degree of privacy

Using a centralized, lightweight or even SPV wallet will never be as private as running a full node. Since you rely on third-party servers to broadcast your transactions for you, those servers will be aware of which addresses belong to you.

This is true both for online wallets and lightweight clients. SPV nodes that rely on bloom filters leak considerable information about the addresses of Bitcoin users.

5) It�s not that hard

To less than tech-savvy users, running a full node may seem like a challenge. However, running a Bitcoin core full node is nothing more than simply downloading the latest Bitcoin core client version and running it.

The Bitcoin blockchain is over 100GB in size, so it may take a while to synchronize your node initially. However, Core�s latest release v0.14.0 improves on validation speed and network propagation performance, leading to much shorter sync and initial block download times.

If in doubt, you can find instructions that detail the process for multiple operating systems on Bitcoin.org.

6) It�s not that expensive

Running a node will require you to keep your computer on at all times � or at least for the majority of the day. While you can always turn your node on and off at will with this option, it is not a very practical one. Many users decide not to host their nodes locally on a physical computer, but rather on a rented virtual server.

Some users have also resorted to hosting nodes on far less demanding machines than computers. This user, for example, is running a Bitcoin full node on his Raspberry pi3 by pruning the blockchain  (deleting unnecessary data about transactions that are fully spent).

The minimum requirements for running a Bitcoin node outlined by Bitcoin Core are as follows:

• Desktop or laptop hardware running recent versions of Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux.
• 125 gigabytes of free disk space
• 2 gigabytes of memory (RAM)
• A broadband Internet connection with upload speeds of at least 400 kilobits (50 kilobytes) per second
• An unmetered connection, a connection with high upload limits, or a connection you regularly monitor to ensure it doesn�t exceed its upload limits. It�s common for full nodes on high-speed connections to use 200 gigabytes upload or more a month. Download usage is around 20 gigabytes a month, plus around an additional 100 gigabytes the first time you start your node.
• 6 hours a day that your full node can be left running. (You can do other things with your computer while running a full node.) More hours would be better, and best of all would be if you can run your node continuously.

Given the benefits outlined above, running a Bitcoin full node will guarantee that you�re not only boosting the performance of the Bitcoin network but also having more say on its future.

2. Security concern
Linda revealed that she contacted a web developer to start work on the development of LIS after having a meeting with two women. Well, it is a known fact that Linda unlike Mark Zuckerberg or Seun Osewa is not an IT professional. Why then would anyone want to trust her with sensitive information? The level of agreement entered into with the web developer is unknown. In event that there is a breach in contractual terms, users will surfer.

3. Followership
Except you are a celebrity, I don�t see how you will be able to amass 50000 followers on this platform. Why would 50k people follow you when you are not a celeb? Nigerian celebs are too comfortable on there high horses either to want to delve into the followership business of LIS. If you don�t have 50k followers, you don�t get a bite of the advertisement money. This is just a way of Linda saying sorry, I can�t share my money with you.

4. 1k per post
This is Linda saying Though I cant share my bread with you, you can still get the crumbs! Except you you want to do it because you have been doing it for free, I dont see how 1k can spur someone into writing lengthy posts and endangering his/her life by taking the pictures of armed police men taking bribes on the road. These is just a marketing strategy where it is announced world over that you can make money on LIS yet you cant find someone who has done such.

5. Nothing new
While Linda said it was born out of the need to bring Lindaikejisblog and facebook together on one platform, LIS has no new features that make her a substitute for facebook. While it is possible to make calls on facebook, it isn�t on LIS.

The latest Ubuntu long-term support release arrived last month. Xenial Xerus, as it�s called, will receive security updates and bug fixes for the next five years. This makes it the ideal version for people who value a stable, predictable system.

Ubuntu�s desktop experience hasn�t changed all that much since the last LTS, version 14.04. But there are several key changes worth getting excited about for desktop and server users alike. Whether you�re upgrading for the first time in two years or moving up from 15.10, let�s have a look.

1. Dash No Longer Includes Amazon Searches

Since 12.10, Ubuntu has displayed Amazon results among other items in the Unity Dash. This meant that Unity sent all user searches to remote servers by default. This brought up privacy concerns, with Richard Stallman calling Ubuntu spyware. The Electronic Frontier Foundation also weighed in. Unsurprisingly, Ubuntu�s Mark Shuttleworth didn�t see things the same way.

Users can disable this functionality, something we have suggested as a way tomake Ubuntu feel like home.

But in 16.04, Amazon searches are no longer enabled by default. When you fire up a new installation, your searches are now no one�s business but your own.

People who want Amazon recommendations can re-enable them at System Settings > Security & Privacy > Search.

This is the way many people felt Canonical should have implemented the feature all along. Changing things could be taken as a concession, but it also frees the company up to focus more energy on Unity 8. That next version of Ubuntu�s user interface is set to make an appearance in Ubuntu 16.10.

2. Bye-Bye Ubuntu Software Center

Canonical developed its own centralized app store in 2009. The Ubuntu Software Center hasn�t changed much since then. Well, not in a positive way. It has grown slower over time, frustrating many users.

Now the Ubuntu Software Center is gone. In its place we have GNOME Software. This package manager comes straight from the GNOME project, freeing Canonical to focus on other work.

For technical background, the Ubuntu Software Center was a front-end to APT/dpkg. GNOME Software uses PackageKit, which itself is a front-end to whichever package management system a distro uses. That�s why you also see it on RPM-based systems, like Fedora.

3. Always Show Application Menus

Some might say Unity�s interface feels Mac-inspired. But while both desktop environments use global menus, Ubuntu�s only appear when you hover your mouse over the top panel. With 16.04, that changes. If you want your menus to be always visible, you can have it that way. The option is now available in System Settings.

For several releases, Ubuntu has provided the option to place menus in the titlebar instead. This change affects that as well. Leaving the menu visible in each application�s windows is a cool way to combine old-school functionality with a modern look.

Always showing the application menu isn�t merely an aesthetic change. Under Ubuntu�s default settings, first-time users may not know where options are located or that they even exist. Enabling this feature removes that discoverability issue.

4. Move Launcher to the Bottom

On today�s widescreen monitors, it makes logical sense to put the dock of the side of the screen. You have more horizontal than vertical pixels to work with.

But logic isn�t everything. Try as I might, I often find panels or docks anchored to the side to be off-putting. It�s nice having the option to move them around.

In Ubuntu 16.04, Unity finally gives you a choice. Kind of. You don�t need to install anything to make the magic happen, but you won�t find an option in System Settings. Instead, open a terminal and type:

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Launcher launcher-position Bottom

If you decide that maybe the side suited you better, don�t fret. You can return the dock to its old position with a slightly different command.

gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Launcher launcher-position Left

You don�t have to use the terminal. An alternate approach would be installing the Unity Tweak Tool.

5. Feeling Snappy?

Snap packages are Canonical�s new way of distributing apps. They take a different approach than what we�re accustomed to on Linux desktops. Snaps contain binaries and dependencies.

6. ZFS
